About

Eugene Villaluz returned to photography in 2005 after a long hiatus that began in the mid-1980s. His rebirth has been focused on using photography to find a personal voice and to discover how to photograph something that does not exist in this reality.

This journey includes explorations into quantum electrodynamics and attempts to understanding general relativity and quantum mechanics through the art of photography. On a more traditional level, Eugene’s work in the past five years has been influenced by the art of Hokusai and other hanga artists whose works with woodblock printing significantly impacted Japanese society—as did the invention of photography on the western world in the early 1800s.

Eugene’s work is further influenced by the impressionist art of the late 19th century, where the treatment of light, movement, experience, visual angles and the transition of time parallel how photography captures reality as decisive moments.

Eugene is available for assignments and has a particular interest in images of food, travel destinations, Hawaii, automobiles, events, portraiture, time and motion. The images in the gallery are available for purchase, framed or unframed. Use the contact form to request an assignment quote or for pricing on prints.
